A New Era Begins: The Philippine Society for Regenerative Medicine Launches at the 119th PMA Annual Convention

The future of medicine has officially arrived in the Philippines.

During the prestigious 119th Annual Convention of the Philippine Medical Association held at Shangri-La Edsa last May 13–16, 2026, history was made with the formal launching of the Philippine Society for Regenerative Medicine (PSRM) — a pioneering organization dedicated to advancing the science, education, ethics, and clinical practice of regenerative medicine in the country.

Founded through the collaboration of two of the Philippines’ leading advocates and specialists in stem cell and regenerative medicine, Dr. Daryl Joel Dumdum and Dr. Quincy Raya, PSRM marks a significant milestone in the evolution of modern healthcare in the Philippines.

The Rise of Regenerative Medicine in the Philippines

Regenerative medicine has rapidly emerged as one of the most transformative fields in healthcare worldwide. From stem cell science and extracellular vesicles to longevity medicine, immunotherapy, advanced diagnostics, and cellular therapies, the discipline offers a new paradigm focused not merely on symptom control, but on repair, restoration, and optimization of human health.

Recognizing the urgent need for a unified, evidence-based, and ethically guided organization, Dr. Dumdum and Dr. Raya envisioned a professional society that would elevate standards, protect patients, train physicians, and foster scientific collaboration.

Thus, PSRM was born.

The society aims to become the leading national organization for physicians and healthcare professionals engaged in regenerative medicine, while promoting responsible innovation grounded in science, safety, and patient-centered care.

Dr. Daryl Joel Dumdum: A Passion Fueled by Science and Hope

At the forefront of this movement is Dr. Daryl Joel Dumdum — a physician whose passion for stem cell science has become the driving force behind numerous regenerative medicine initiatives in Mindanao and beyond.

A Diplomate in Family Medicine and internationally trained regenerative medicine physician, Dr. Dumdum has long advocated for integrating cutting-edge science with compassionate, holistic patient care. His vision extends beyond clinical practice; he believes regenerative medicine represents “the science of hope” — a future where medicine moves toward healing, restoration, and disease interception.

In March 2026, Dr. Dumdum achieved another milestone after being formally conferred as a Fellow in Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine by the International Association of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine during ceremonies held in New Delhi, India. The fellowship recognized his growing contributions to regenerative medicine education, research, and clinical innovation in the Philippines.

Over the years, Dr. Dumdum has actively championed regenerative medicine initiatives in Davao City through Sure Health 360 Center for Regenerative Medicine & Cell Therapy, where he has introduced programs focused on stem cell therapy, longevity medicine, photobiomodulation, advanced cancer diagnostics, wellness optimization, and evidence-based cellular therapies.

His work has also emphasized physician education, public awareness, and ethical practice — ensuring that regenerative medicine in the Philippines develops responsibly and scientifically.

Building the Future Through Education

One of the major announcements during the PMA convention was the launch of the official PSRM Training Track Program, designed to establish structured education and credentialing pathways for physicians entering the field.

The ladderized program includes:

  • Associate in Regenerative Medicine
  • Diplomate in Regenerative Medicine
  • Fellow in Regenerative Medicine

The program combines modular learning, hands-on exposure, research development, case discussions, and evidence-based clinical training aligned with international standards.

PSRM aims to cultivate competent and ethically grounded practitioners capable of safely integrating regenerative medicine into clinical practice.

According to the founders, the society also hopes to contribute to future policy development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and scientific research within the Philippine medical community.

Looking Ahead: PSRM National Convention 2026

Excitement continues to build as PSRM prepares for its upcoming National Convention scheduled on October 21–22, 2026.

The convention is expected to gather physicians, researchers, scientists, and healthcare innovators from across the country and abroad to discuss the latest developments in:

  • Stem Cell Science
  • Exosomes and Extracellular Vesicles
  • Longevity Medicine
  • Photobiomodulation
  • Immunotherapy
  • Advanced Cancer Detection
  • Cellular Therapies
  • Regenerative Rehabilitation
  • Precision and Preventive Medicine

The event is poised to become one of the landmark gatherings for regenerative medicine in the Philippines.

A Defining Moment for Philippine Medicine

The launch of PSRM represents more than the birth of a medical organization — it symbolizes a movement toward innovation, scientific progress, and the future of healing.

As regenerative medicine continues to evolve globally, the Philippines now takes a bold step forward through leaders committed to responsible advancement and transformative healthcare.

For Dr. Dumdum, the mission remains deeply personal:

“Regenerative medicine is not simply about technology. It is about restoring hope, improving quality of life, and redefining what is possible in medicine.”

And with the founding of PSRM, that vision has officially begun.
